The Women’s Evolution Deserves It’s Own Pay-Per-View

This coming week the WWE will be over in Saudi Arabia for The Greatest Royal Rumble event. This card will have a 50-Man Royal Rumble, a Casket Match and seven championship matches(one being in a steel cage). The WWE is being paid at least twenty million dollars to do this show which explains why it is so stacked. As stacked is this card is there is one glaring omission and that is there will be no Women’s Matches on the card. I understand that not every country and culture is like the United States of America, but I feel bad for the Women of WWE. These women sacrifice just as much as the men do. The WWE is trying to get people to view these women as equals to their male counterparts and in many countries they are.  Since this is technically an all men’s pay-per-view I believe WWE should make it up to the women in a way that no other organization, country or culture would.

The WWE should give the Women of WWE a Pay-Per-View all to themselves. There are enough women past and present that there would be so much buzz around it. Imagine seeing Trish Stratus, Molly Holly or Beth Phoenix in the ring again. Then you have the present in Asuka, Charlotte, and newly signed Ronda Rousey that are huge draws for the company. If you wanted to go deeper you could use competitors from NXT and the Mae Young classic to make an All Women’s Show really special. There has been some speculation that this summer there would be a Women’s Tag Team Championship that would be created. This would be a perfect opportunity for a Women’s Evolution show because WWE could have a one night tournament to crown the inaugural champions. The possibilities with the past, present and future are endless. There is some ignorant thinking that women can’t draw and I can tell you that is completely false. From where I sat watching Wrestlemania 34, I think Asuka versus Charlotte was arguably the best match of the night. A few years ago, when I sat and watched the first Brooklyn Takeover I watched arguably the greatest match in NXT history when Sasha Banks took on Bayley. I am not saying the greatest women’s match but literally the greatest match in NXT’s history. The women of WWE have been making a lot of the last two years.

In the last two years, the women have had a Hell in a Cell, Money in the Bank, Elimination Chamber and Royal Rumble matches. They have had 30 Minute Iron-Women matches and have been the Main Event on Raw, Smackdown and even pay-per-views. It only makes logical sense that an All Women’s Pay-Per-View needs to happen. This isn’t just about watching the Women of WWE perform and entertain us. This is about equality, value and the treatment of women all over the world. WWE has women from Ireland, India, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. There is a global presence in the Women’s Division right now which WWE needs to take advantage of. They need to show that women all over the world have value and should be treated equally. While I am sad that there will not be a Women’s Match at The Greatest Royal Rumble that doesn’t mean I don’t have hope for the future. I do have hope that the WWE will do right by these women. These women have worked hard, earned their spotlight and they deserve to be in the spotlight even more now. The Women’s Evolution is just getting started and their future looks bright.
