Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 09

The 2009 class for the Football Hall of Fame has been announced, and just like the old saying goes, Defense is what wins championships and makes you a successful team. With that being said the three main inductees are Bruce Smith, Rod Woodson and Derrick Thomas.

Bruce Smith who played the majority of his career with the Buffalo Bills and the last part of it with the Redskins is the all time leader in Sacks with 200 after surpassing the late great Reggie White in 2003. He’s won a lot of awards and is probably one of the greatest defensive players never to win a Super Bowl. However his stats and abilities alone rightfully make him Hall of Fame bound.

Rod Woodson who has appeared in a Super Bowl multiple times but only won when he was with the Baltimore Ravens in the later part of his career. He holds two records which are 1,483 career interception yards and 12 interceptions returned for touchdowns. Quite a feat if you ask me and is very deserving of the Hall of Fame.

And last but not least the late Derrick Thomas who has a couple of records of his own which include, 7 sacks in 1 game and 45 career forced fumbles. He only played 10 years for the Kansas City Chiefs and in 2003 was tragically killed in an automobile accident. Derrick Thomas’ family should be very proud because he was a great player who is still missed today.

So there you have it, the 2009 Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductees. I for one can’t wait to here there speeches. Until then it’s Super Bowl Sunday and I am still standing by prediction. Arizona 24, Pittsburgh 21. Be back tomorrow for the recap.
