Tigers release Garry Sheffield

With only one home run shy of 500, the Detroit Tigers decided to release Garry Sheffield. I really don’t know the reasons behind it but I am really shocked. Sheffield has been injury plagued for the last few seasons and is struggling this Spring Training. One can only think that had something to do with his release from the organization.

Garry Sheffield is a great player and will probably be in the Hall of Fame someday. He does have a World Series ring to his name when he won the World Series in 1997 with the upstart Florida Marlins. In my eyes he did way better in the National League then he did the American League. I know Sheffield will find a team somewhere but who is going to take him now with his history of injuries. I would hate to see a great player like him not be in the league. Will he have a job before opening day? Only time will tell.
