Dos Santos Shines at UFC 131

Last night Junior Dos Santos proved one thing. It don’t matter who you put in-front of him, he’s going to destroy them. Shane Carwin made his he return to the UFC after a lengthy absence and he took a beating. I got to give him credit though he took a beating and survived the full three rounds. Dos Santos wins Dos Santos by unanimous decision(30–27, 30–27, 30–26). He’s definitely the number one contender now and I think Cain Velasquez is going to have his hands full.

Kenny Florian made some history last night and that was being the first man to fight in four different weight classes in the UFC. He’s won in all of them too. He defeated Diego Nunes by unanimous decision (29–28, 29–28, 30–27). It was a very close fight and I am not even sure Florian should have won but as they say, never leave it in the hands of the judges.

Other results included:

Preliminary card (Televised)

-Middleweight bout: Jesse Bongfeldt vs. Chris Weidman
Weidman defeated Bongfeldt by submission (standing guillotine choke) at 4:54 of round 1.

-Lightweight bout: Canada Sam Stout vs. Yves Edwards
Stout defeated Edwards byKO (punch) at 3:52 of round 1.

Main card

-Lightweight bout: Donald Cerrone vs. Vagner Rocha
Cerrone defeated Rocha by unanimous decision (30–27, 30–27, 30–26).

-Heavyweight bout: Jon Olav Einemo vs. Dave Herman
Herman defeated Einemo by TKO (punches) at 3:19 of round 2.

-Middleweight bout: Demian Maia vs. Mark Muñoz
Muñoz defeated Maia by unanimous decision (29–28, 29–28, 30–27).

It’s good to see guys getting tougher and fights lasting more then a minute. The UFC has done some great match making as of late and it excites me even more some of the fights coming this summer and this fall. There are some new bouts currently in the works for later on this year.

Jose Aldo vs Kenny Florian
Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz
Matt Hughes vs Diego Sanchez
Jon Jones vs. Quinton Jackson

These are just some of the great matches on the horizon later on this year. Keep tuning for more on the UFC
