Baseball Off-season Moves as of 3/9/2012

Its officially spring! Baseball spring training games began last Saturday and there have been a few moves to highlight the end of the off-season. Here is the last of the off-season moves and into spring training.

-New York Yankees agreed to terms with 3B Eric Chavez on a one-year contract.

-Washington Nationals agreed to terms with 3B Ryan Zimmerman on an eight-year contract.

-Pittsburgh Pirates agreed to terms with OF Andrew McCutchen on a six-year contract.

-St. Louis Cardinals agreed to terms with C Yadier Molina on a six-year contract.

-Boston Red Sox announced the retirement of C Jason Varitek.

-Baltimore Orioles Released LHP Dennys Reyes for failure to report.

-San Diego Padres agreed to terms with OF Cameron Maybin on a five-year contract.

-Seattle Mariners announced the retirement of INF Carlos Guillen.
So with those few moves taking place, teams are looking to trim down their roster for the season ahead which mean no more big moves until the trade deadline in July unless something crazy happens otherwise. Until July, let’s play ball!
