10 Years of TNA Impact Wrestling

On June 10th, TNA Impact Wrestling will celebrate its 10th year anniversary with it’s pay-per-view Slammiversary. In 2001, WWE bought out rights to WCW making WWE the only global company around.  On May 10th 2002 TNA Wrestling was formed by Jeff and Jerry Jarrett. TNA struggled for the first few years but in after being on Fox Sports Net they were brought to Spike TV on October 1, 2007 where they have been since. A lot of criticism has been thrown at TNA over a 10 year period but they have had some memorable moments and controversial times in the company that made it thrive. Look at the list of people who have held the TNA World Heavyweight title. The list includes Kurt Angle, Sting, Samoa Joe, Mick Foley, AJ Styles, Rob Van Dam, Robert Roode, Mr. Anderson and Jeff Hardy. Before there was the TNA title, there was the NWA-TNA title which was held by the following wrestlers that include Ken Shamrock, Ron Killings, Raven, Rhino, Christian Cage and Abyss. Between the two titles, some very impressive names have held that title.

However many people believe that the X Division has been the heart and soul of the company. Some of the early X Division Champions include Styles, Jerry Lynn, Loki, Syxx-Pac, Kid Kash, Amazing Red, Kazarian, Chris Sabin, and more. The Knockouts and Tag Team division have also been superb throughout the ten year run of TNA. TNA also has had innovative matches like King of the Mountain, Ultimate X, Lethal Lockdown, Ultimate Escape and more.

When I think of TNA I think America’s Most Wanted, Samoa Joe, Beer Money, Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles, Motor City Machine Guns, and Jeff Jarrett. However the other name that comes to mine is Sting. Sting has been very loyal to TNA Wrestling much like he was loyal to WCW. He is the one big name that has never worked for WWE. Sting has helped TNA reached heights it wouldn’t have without him. He also helped the younger guys become bigger stars much like Ric Flair helped him.

There a lot of great moments in the history of TNA Wrestling but this is one that has always stuck out to me.

TNA Slammiversary 10 takes place on June 10th and Hollywood’s World of Sports will have coverage on TNA’s biggest event in the history of their company. A lot of changes have happened in TNA over it’s 10 year history and Slammiversary 10 will be a culmination of all those changes. Stay tuned for coverage on TNA Slammiversary 10.
