WWE Cruiserweight Classic- Episode 4

This week on the Cruiserweight Classic, it was the final week of round one. Before we jump into the Classic I have to say it’s cool that participants from the CWC are being featured on NXT. Sean Maluta took on the returning Hideo Itami. This is what the CWC is all about. It’s given a few guys some really great opportunities. I have a feeling that once the Classic is over we are going to see a few of these being signed to contracts to work on Raw’s Cruiserweight division. It’s been a great three weeks so far and going into this episode I had to ask how this was going to live up? We’ve seen Ibushi, Zabre Jr., Taijiri, and Kendrick. How could tonights matches shock and awe us? Well I can honestly say I was not disappointed at all.
The opening match of the evening was Rich Swann taking on Jason Lee. Rich Swann has been on NXT in the past and had a really great match with Finn Balor so I expected to some great stuff from him. Rich Swann knows how to get a crowd going but his in ring skill backs up the energy in his entrance. Jason Lee has a lot of great striking skills which made for a great opening contest. Rich Swann is moving on and hopefully going far after this tournament over. Noam Dar and Gurv Sihra followed in the second match and we lost one Bollywood Boy a week ago. Well we lost another this because Noam Dar capitalized on some of Gurv’s mistakes. I do think the Bollywood Boyz would be a great addition to the tag team division because of their talent and ability to entertain. I never thought I’d see anyone like Sheamus again but Jack Gallagher proved me wrong. He’s definitely the English version of Sheamus and I don’t mean that in a bad way. Gallagher may have won but I love Fabian Aichner’s passion for wrestling considering Italy doesn’t have a big market in pro wrestling. It doesn’t matter if it’s Italy, China or America, this tournament has had tons of international flavor and I love it.
The Main Event of this week is another thing I loved. It featured two NXT regulars in Tomasso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. These two are looking to become NXT Tag Team Champions but tonight they put that aside and went one on one. They had a lot of great chain wrestling in the beginning but then they got real physical. They definitely didn’t act like tag partners and I don’t blame them. This was a hard hitting phenomenal match and this could have gone to either man. Johnny Gargano gets the win but if they fight like this against each other I really feel bad for The Revival when they eventually fight them. This was an incredible first round and I got the very good feeling that the second round is going to be out of this world. Here are the second round matches:
TJ Perkins vs. Johnny Gargano
HoHo Lun vs. Noam Dar
Lince Dorado vs. Rich Swann
Akira Tozawa vs. Jack Gallagher
Zack Sabre, Jr. vs. Drew Gulak
Gran Metalik vs. Tajiri
Tony Nese vs. Brian Kendrick
Kota Ibushi vs. Cedric Alexander

Keep tuning in each week for the recap on the Cruiserweight Classic. I love this tournament, I love the talent and I love that they are bringing back the Cruiserweight Division because of the this. Tune into to next week to see what takes place in the Cruiserweight Classic.
