Road to WWE Wrestlemania 37: Week 3

This week on the Road to Wrestlemania we had shocking announcements, major changes in matches and some major character development. Here is what down on this week’s Road to Wrestlemania 37.

RAW RESULTS
Riddle and Lucha House Party defeated The Hurt Business
Charlotte Flair and Asuka defeated Peyton Royce and Lacey Evans by DQ
Kofi Kingston defeated The Miz
Shayna Baszler defeated Lana
Sheamus won a Gauntlet match involving Drew McIntyre, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Kofi Kingston and Jeff Hard to enter the Elimination Chamber last

THREE TAKEAWAYS FROM RAW
1. Last week, I had discussed how far fetched the Charlotte Flair and Ric Flair storyline was involving Lacey Evans. Everyone knows that there is a bond between these two that will never be broken. This week, Lacey Evans announced that she was pregnant, which throws a huge wrench into any Wrestlemania plans they may have had for her Charlotte. I’m very intrigued by who will step up and face Asuka.
2. I absolutely love what The Miz is doing with the Money in the Briefcase. I think it was brilliant for him to take himself out of the Elimination Chamber Match. Right now, he controls his own destiny and that destiny is becoming WWE Champion again. If anyone deserves it is The Miz with how hard he’s worked over all the years he’s been there.
3. It was surprising to me that Keith Lee was not on Raw considering he has at big match at Elimination Chamber for the United States Championship. I really hope this is not another situation where he’s inserted into a feud between two other stars for a championship and nothing comes out of it. If you recall, when Lee came to Raw, he was inserted into the Drew McIntyre-Randy Orton feud and beat Orton in his first pay-per-view match. Nothing really came of that victory. If Lee or Riddle won the United States Championship, it would put them in a huge spot for Wrestlemania. Positive momentum is good to have during this season when people are gearing up for Wrestlemania.

SMACKDOWN RESULTS
Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Apollo Crews
Natalya and Tamina defeate The Riott Squad
Sasha Banks, Bianca Belair and Reginald defeated Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, and Bayley
Rey Mysterio and Dominik defeated Chad Gable and Otis by DQ
Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, and Cesaro defeated Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin and Jey Uso.

THREE TAKEAWAYS FROM SMACKDOWN
1. There have been so many great stories and transformations recently and this week continued. Apollo Crews has shown a new mean streak that I never thought he had. Chad Gable and Otis put a beatdown on the Mysterio’s, which I did not see coming at all. Smackdown has had some amazing storytelling and I hope it continues as we move towards Wrestlemania
2. All six superstars in Sunday’s Elimination Chamber shined on Smackdown. I really how love Edge interacted with Owens, Bryan, and Cesaro. I give a Edge a ton of credit for giving multiple stars a ton of credibility in the backstage segments with him. He’s done it Raw, Smackdown and NXT. At the end of Smackdown, all six men ended up in a brawl which led to Edge spearing Jey Uso and Roman Reigns spearing Edge. It’s looking more clear now who Edge may pick to face at Wrestlemania
3. Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler appeared on all three shows this week and it appears they are making some enemies before Wrestlemania gets here. They are facing Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks at Elimination Chamber and in two weeks they return to NXT to face Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzales. The Women’s Tag Team Division is starting to build up again and I would love to see the champions have to defend the titles in a Fatal Four Way Match with each show in WWE being represented in the match.

BONUS TAKEAWAY
Bad Bunny won the WWE 24/7 Championship on Monday Night Raw this week. Even though he has not wrestled a match yet, I believe this is genius move on WWE’s part. Bad Bunny is appearing on Saturday Night Live this week and he’s been selling merchandise like it’s water. I fully expect Bad Bunny to be involved in Wrestlemania and my gut tells me that it’s going to be big.

This week on the Road to Wrestlemania has concluded. Be sure to check back on Sunday Night for my recap and review on the Elimination Chamber event, and be sure to check back next week for more on the Road to Wrestlemania.
