WWE Hall of Fame 2021 Inductee: Molly Holly

In 1999, when “Macho Man” Randy Savage reinvented himself into Team Madness, he came out with an entourage of ladies by his side. One of the ladies was Nora Greenwald who dubbed as “Miss Madness.” During her tenure in WCW, she helped trained the women wrestlers in the company and feuded with Madusa after they left Team Madness. She spent a little over a year in WCW, but that short time was only the beginning for her. Upon her arrival in WWE full time, she was a valet for William Regal for a short period of time. Greenwald was not a well know character on WWE programming, but that would soon change with what happened next.

In the fall of 2000, she was paired with Hardcore Holly and Crash Holly, and she became Molly Holly. Their first notable feud was with Test, Albert and Trish Stratus. The real magic began when Molly Holly and Spike Dudley were an onscreen couple. This story was so awesome because The Holly’s and Dudley’s both unapproved of this relationship and we’re always annoyed they were together. This led to some incredible matches and backstage segments between the two families. Shortly after she had a falling out with Crash and Hardcore Holly, she once again evolved and become Mighty Molly, who was a sidekick of Hurricane Helms. These two were so fun together and they had amazing chemistry on camera. Their run together only last seven months and once in ended Molly evolved once again.

Molly Holly, who had been a fan favorite for the first part of her WWE career was now a heel. Her motto was “pure and wholesome” and wouldn’t accept how Divas were portrayed. She won her first Women’s Championship from Trish Stratus and her second from Gail Kim. She also had rivalries with Jazz, Victoria, Stacy Keibler and Christ Hemme. One of the greatest Molly Holly moments occurred at Wrestlemania 20, where she had her head shaved by Victoria. Personally, I thought this was so cool for a woman of her stature to do something that risky.

Molly Holly retired from full time wrestling in 2005, but she has made sporadic appearances that include WWE Evolution, various Raw events, and Royal Rumble 2018 and 2020. She has also made multiple appearances on the independent scene. Molly Holly had a wide range of being one of the most lovable characters to being on one of the most despised. If you listen to her interviews, you will know that she is one of the most genuine and caring human beings around. She made Women’s Wrestling fun at a time when women weren’t getting the recognition and TV time they deserved. Congratulations to Nora Greenwald, aka Molly Holly on being an inductee into the 2021 WWE Hall of Fame.
